Carol Ann Winters (Martin) ObituaryCarol Ann (Martin) Winters passed away on September 24, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Donald Paul Winters.
Carol was born in New Milford, Conn., on July 3, 1950 to Mona (Cook) Richardson and the late James Martin. She graduated from Washington High School in 1968. She met her husband, Don, and they married in 1977; celebrating 42 years together before his passing in 2020.
A talented and proficient gardener Carol worked at White Flower Farm and Van Engelen Inc. before becoming the estate head gardener at Weatherstone, where she worked until she retired.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her family for her love of gardening, collecting seashells, knitting, crocheting and reading but most of all for her love for her family. She enjoyed watching UCONN Basketball and the Celtics.
In addition to her mother, Mona, Carol is survived by three daughters, Tammy Phillips (Jason), Jennifer Aiello (Matthew), Katherine Ricci (Niklas); seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Donna Simmons (Kevin), Linda Bates, Robin Martin, Stacy Martin; three brothers, James Martin (Linda), Dusty Martin (Mary), David Martin (Tina); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and father, Carol was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth Martin & John Martin; her great nephew, James M. Fitzgerald IV; her brothers-in-law, Jim Bates and Kevin Fallon; and her sister-in-law, Hope Martin.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 15, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. A private graveside service will be held at East Morris Cemetery.
