Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Service on Oct. 1, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carole Sue Carter (Sue) of
Berlin, Md. Suddenly, on June 14, 2025, Sue's heart stopped beating and she passed quickly. Sue was 88 years old, but to everyone that knew her she was 21! Carole Sue was always known as "Sue" her entire life.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Thom White and her sister Ellis Ann Washington.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, James Carter (Jim) and also 3 of her 5 children. Pat Sause (+husband Paul) Jim Carter, and Susie Carter. James Martin Carter Jr. (deceased 1959) Donna Lynn Carter(deceased 2021).
Sue (Mom Mom) is also survived by her grandchildren, Keri Weller, Tim Schwandtner, Sara Deyo (+husband Jason), Julie Mae Krueger (+husband Steve) and Tom Schwandtner.
Sue (G.G.) is also survived by her great grandchildren, Grace Weller, Zach Weller, Tristan Deyo, Cecilia Schwandtner, Andrew Schwandtner, Berenger Krueger, and Palmer Krueger.
Sue is also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Sue was born in Kentucky, grew up in Pimlico and Baltimore, Md. She raised her children in Overlea, and Glen Arm. The last 23 years of her life she lived in the house she built with Jim in
Berlin, Md.
Sue recently attended her Eastern High School 70th reunion. A milestone that was so special that it was covered by WBAL news.
Incredibly, Sue and Jim also celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last November. Sue was a loving and supportive wife to Jim, working as his secretary, raising the children, and running a household.
Sue was Blessed with her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren, with whom she loved unconditionally.
Sue often expressed how fortunate that she was to have numerous friendships, that she valued deeply.
Sue loved entertaining and cooking for her family, friends and neighbors. She was a great hostess and very good cook too. She made delicious cookies and her cornbread dressing was fantastic just to name a few.
Sue kept herself busy printing and cataloging photos. In her younger years she played golf and gardened. One of her passions was decorating inside her home for all of the holidays and different seasons. Sue liked cute keepsakes and special collectables (dolls) and especially pigs! Sue really loved steamed crabs and baseball. Describing Sue as an avid Oriole fan doesn't even come close. Sue really liked the slot machines at the casinos and occasionally went to the horse races. Sue liked her tablet and scrolling on the internet, playing on-line games and e-mailing.
Sue faced the life that she loved, with unending strength, patience, and endurance daily. Please don't mourn Sue's passing, but celebrate the years Sue lived. She left us so many memories of love and added so much to this world.
