Carole Doss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Feb. 15, 2024.
Carole A. Doss nee Savage, 87, of Warrenville, IL, peacefully passed away at home on February 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 4, 1936, in Chicago, IL, to Eleanore nee Stieg and Richard Savage.
Carole married Fredrick John Doss on June 28, 1958, and was a loving and special mother to Frederick Henry (the late Judith), Lisa Ann (Joseph), Laura Lee (passed), and Julianne Marie (Michael). She is remembered as a fun-loving, playful grandmother of Joseph James, Franklin Frederick, Steven Robert, Jillian Julianne, Alexis Marie, Nicholas Alphonso, Michael Julian and cherished great grandmother of Joseph, Benjamin, Charles, Clark, Reid, Dominic, Briggs, Baylor, Margo and Julian. Carole is survived by her loving siblings Florence, Tom, Lenore, Frances, Marie and Rita, as well as many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
Growing up in Chicago, Carole attended Saint Gregory High School and later earned an associate degree from Wilbur Wright Junior College. She had a lifelong passion for the arts, music, literature, philosophy and current events. She further pursued her interests in spirituality, palmistry, astrology, and sun-filled meditation, becoming a guiding presence for many.
As an avid reader, Carole found solace and pleasure in her local library, actively participating in various book clubs.
Her love for family was evident in her attendance at her grandchildren's sporting events, and she also shared the excitement of professional games and travel with her siblings and cousins.
Carole's dedication to the community and nature was demonstrated through her involvement with Chicago Clean and Beautiful, her proactive commitment to recycling initiatives, and caring for her many plants and flowers.
Carole's love of cycling was a significant part of her active lifestyle, enjoying long rides on the prairie path and later enjoying hours at the pool.
Her zest for life extended to the joy of experiencing live music and dancing with friends. Carole knew how to celebrate life's moments and bring joy to those around her.
Carole's effervescent personality, love of family and friends, music and dancing, touched many lives. She was loved by many, kind to all. She will truly be missed.
"Some dance for many years, some only days, and all of us, as our time comes to an end, eventually, in death, we leave the floor as the music goes quiet for us."
In lieu of flowers the family will be collecting donations for a cause to be determined later.
The Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:15 PM, with a Service at 4:15 PM, at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. For more information please call 630-355-0213

Hard to believe a year has passed since I still think of Carole almost every day. Every time I do a chart a wish Carole was here to discuss what we see. My heart goes out to Julie and Fred and Lisa and all the family.

I'm so very heartbroken to hear of Carole's passing. She was my neighbor for several years -- and what an absolute ray of sunshine and force of light! Her empathy, positivity and caring nature encouraged me constantly. And I so enjoyed our "driveway gatherings," as she'd create cozy little sitting areas at the edge of her garage for everyone to visit and enjoy the spring and summer evenings. She was an angel on earth, and I truly believe she's up there shining with the stars. Thank you, Carole, for everything. <3

Carole was my lifelong friend, my best friend. we shared many laughs and tears over the years. She loved to discuss current events. We shared philosophies and even though we lived far apart, we loved our days together talking about everything under the sun. She leaves a big hole in my heart and in my life.

Carole always brightened my day when I saw her at the library. No matter what the day brought, Carole was always ready with a friendly hello or kind word. It will be hard to attend a summer concert without picturing Carole dancing up front - I can only hope to have her zest for life as I grow older!! She was an important part of my "library life" and will be missed. My condolences to her family and friends.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Carole's passing. She was a regular and important presence at the Warrenville Library. I understand that she was an original member of our Thursday book club, and I got to know her better when I began leading it about three years ago. Seeing Carole always brightened my day. She would often come to the library to read the newspaper, and often had to ask me to raise the blinds to let the sunlight in. Anyone who attended our summer concerts on Thursday nights could see Carole dancing in the front row. I will miss her enthusiasm for music and reading and her kindness to library staff and fellow patrons. I was always touched by her concern for others and the consistent gratitude she expressed for simple things like helping to find a book or bringing snacks to book club. That kind of expression of gratitude is never necessary, but it is greatly appreciated. My condolences to her family. She will be missed by so many.

Carol loved life. She was a lovely neighbor and she spent much of her time keeping Maple Hill looking good. She spent her days watering the plants around the pool in Maple Hill and club house. I will miss seeing her walking or riding her bike. God bless.
