Carole Hill Obituary

Carole Elizabeth Godfrey Hill, a resident of Roper, North Carolina, died on October 16, 2025, as the result of a fatal car accident in Creswell, North Carolina township.

Family was everything to Carole, a beloved woman known by many names: Mamma, Nana, Nana Carole, Sister, Aunt and friend. Born in Washington, North Carolina, on August 8, 1949, to the late Otis A. and Helen Elizabeth Cox Godfrey, she was taught from a young age to love the Lord. This foundation inspired her to live a life defined by compassion, humility, and generosity. She dedicated herself to passing these cherished attributes on to her children and grandchildren through teaching by action. She was a huge lover of people and would sacrifice and go without to ensure others had what they needed. As a dedicated active member of Cape Colony Church of Christ in Edenton, Carole served on the Ladies group and was heavily active in every aspect of the church touching so many countless lives. The Albemarle Emmaus community served as her anchor for many years. She was tasked with many capacities including the position of Lay Director. Additionally, assisting as a poll worker during political season allowed her to greet more members of the community. Nothing was more cherished by her than times with family and friends playing cards, chicken foot, Qwirkle making memories and laughing, joking and trying hard to always come out on top as the winner.

Carole's career as a dental hygienist took her from private practice to public service. She first worked in Charlotte, North Carolina, for Dr. Andy Hines. Later, after moving to Edenton with her two children, she joined the practices of Dr. Richard Hines and Dr. Lonnie Sieck. In the final six years of her career, she provided dental care for inmates at the North Carolina Rivers Correctional Federal Prison, Windsor-Bertie Correctional, and Pasquotank Correctional Institution.

Carole is survived by her daughter Tiffany Coltrain (Greg), son Ryan Quidley (Blair), and step-daughter, Kathy Hardison (Glenn); grandchildren Jewel Cook (Andrew), Mollie Cook-Coltrain, Mallorie Cook-Coltrain, Kalyn Hardison, Hagen Terry, Mara Thefaine (Lauren), Austin Coltrain, Kaylyn Jordan (Matthew), Hylee Jarrett, Lilly; great grandchildren, Kenleigh Hardison and Leaven Jordan. She is also survived by a sister Kay Woolard (Jeffrey). Carole was preceded in death by her husband Robert Glenn "Bobbie" Hill and step-daughter Robin Terry.

The family will receive friends at the home of Greg and Tiffany Coltrain, 595 Schooner Point Rd, Belhaven. A visitation will be held Monday October 20, 2025 at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service from 5:00-7:00pm. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Cape Colony Church of Christ (831 Soundside Rd, Edenton, NC) at 10:00am. A graveside service will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC at 12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that all donations be made to Cape Colony Church of Christ in memory of Carole Hill.

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to assist the Hill family.
