Glenn Williams Obituary

Glenn "Stacy" Williams, 64, of Manteo, North Carolina, passed away on October 1, 2025. He was born on July 17, 1961, to the late George Thomas Williams III and Annie Bell Doody. He was also preceded in death by his older brother, George.

Stacy grew up in Goldsboro, later lived and worked in Greenville, and for the past 25 years made his home on Roanoke Island in Manteo. He lived a life full of joy, laughter, and community. Stacy proudly participated in The Special Olympics, earning medals in basketball, bowling, and bocce ball. He was active in ADAP programs and found great purpose in his weaving work through the program Endless Possibilities, where he earned the nickname "Thunder Weaver." He also enjoyed weaving at home.

A familiar and cherished presence in the Manteo community, Stacy delighted in the fellowship of the breakfast group at McDonald's, the courtesy coffees at 7-Eleven, conversations with the staff at TL's, and his time at the YMCA, where Justin's kindness held a special place in his heart. He also loved decorating his house for Halloween and Christmas, spreading joy to his neighbors and friends.

Stacy was a faithful member of Manteo Faith Baptist Church, where he shared a close relationship with his pastor, Matt Bryan. He joyfully served on Sunday mornings by helping take up the offering, lighting candles, and greeting worshipers.

He was blessed with the loving companionship and care of Paula Harrelson, who walked faithfully beside him. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Paula, Pastor Bryan, his dear cousin Billy and wife Denise, and the many businesses and individuals on Roanoke Island who consistently showed Stacy kindness, patience, and friendship.

Stacy will be remembered for his kind spirit, sense of humor, and the endearing way he touched everyone he met.

A graveside service will be held at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, North Carolina, on Monday, October 6th, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to The Special Olympics of Dare County, North Carolina by clicking here.
