Carole M. Oudenhoven, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 19, 1933, in Montpelier, daughter of the late George and Agnes (Kriescher) Cisler. Carole devoted most of her time to being a homemaker and mother of five children, but was also active in the community in many different ways. She had a lifelong involvement with the Girl Scouts and was director of Winnecomac Girl Scout Camp in Kaukauna and was awarded the Thanks Badge. Carole was a member of the Kimberly Homemakers and was also a classroom and lunchroom supervisor at Kimberly High School. She was a devout Catholic and served in many ways as eucharistic minister, member of the choir, Christian Mothers Society, Mission Ladies, and instructor of mass servers.
Carole married Donald Theodore Oudenhoven of Kimberly on November 24, 1956. Donald preceded Carole in death on June 6, 1996; although they did not have as much time together as they would have wished, Carole remained devoted to her children and grandchildren after Donald’s death. Carole enjoyed camping, sewing, square dancing, music, gardening, and card games (especially games where she could win nickels from her family!)
Carole is survived by her children: Jane (Frank) Taycher, Karen (Bill) Hanson, Paul (Nancy) Oudenhoven, Mary (David) Ratzburg, Ann (Scott) Breyer; a sister: Leona Nelson; two brothers: Cletus (Nancy) Cisler and Vince (Joan) Cisler; three sisters-in-law: Sharon Cisler, Rosalyn Simonar, and Marion Oudenhoven; 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents: Agnes and George Cisler, husband: Donald T. Oudenhoven, and siblings: Bernard Cisler, George Cisler, Alvin Cisler, Stella (Raymond) Beilke, and a brother-in-law Dallas; and beloved grandchildren: Amy Ann Breyer and Christine Taycher.
The funeral liturgy for Carole will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, located at 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Carl Schmitt officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held directly at the church on Friday the 24 from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass.
Carole’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the medical staff who took care of Carole with compassion and care during her stay at ThedaCare-Appleton. They would also like to thank the staff of Dimensions Senior Assisted Living for their daily support of Carole.
