Carole Angela Tumminia, 81, passed away on May 21, 2025.
Born on November 3, 1943 in Barbados, Angela was the daughter of Kenneth Grogan and Bertina Stoute. She was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Grogan and her beloved son Peter Tumminia.
Angela attended St. Winifred's School in Barbados before retaining a position in the U.S. Consulate where she met Frank Tumminia, an American diplomat.
Angela and Frank were married on April 4, 1964 in Barbados and together they began a life of travel and duty to the United States. Angela was proud to be a Diplomat's wife and fulfilled her role with grace and honor. Frank's assignments would take them from Barbados to Hong Kong, Portugal, Spain, Romania, the U.S., Switzerland, Suriname, and Italy. Following Frank's departure from the foreign service they settled in Vienna, Virginia for 35 years before relocating to Summerville, SC in 2024.
Angela leaves behind her devoted husband, Frank, their children: Lisa Tumminia (Husband, Michael Beegen), Michael Tumminia (Wife, Monica Gambino) and Peter's widow, Julie Tumminia-Tomsuden. She was the proud grandmother of Gabriella Dill (Husband, James Alvarez) and Marco Tumminia (Partner, Jazmyn Gaboriau).
Angela was a dedicated homemaker, mother and friend with a wonderful sense of humor. She never failed to remember a birthday, anniversary or important event in others lives.
Besides her family and friends, Angela's two passions were playing tennis and spending hours floating in the beautiful seas of Barbados which, despite all her travels and time away would always be home in her heart.
Angela nurtured every relationship with unwavering love, wisdom, and warmth. She taught us grace, resilience, and unconditional love. Angela will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Virginia at a later date. All will be welcome to attend and to celebrate Angela's remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to Angela's heart.
"She was a woman of quiet strength and boundless love. Though she may no longer walk beside us, she lives on in every act of kindness we give."
