Frank Daniel Baker 'Danny'
March 2, 1959 – May 28, 2025
Danny Baker, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 28, 2025.
Born on March 2, 1959, in Charleston, South Carolina, Danny was the son of Edward Milton Baker and Betty Vance Baker. He married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Shelly Christopher Baker, and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family.
Danny spent his career as a professional land surveyor and was proud to work as a Project Manager with Ducks Unlimited on Southeast conservation efforts. Though work often kept him on the road, he was hardwired to get home - home to his family, his favorite people, and the life he treasured.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting in his younger years, a BMW enthusiast, and a man who never passed up a cold beer or a good time surrounded by friends and family. He was also the wheelie-riding champion of Dorchester Estates - a childhood title he wore with pride and humor.
Danny was known for his wit, kindness, generosity, and steadfast work ethic. He was the kind of man you could always count on - all you had to do was call. He showed up. Every time.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelly; his daughters, Emily Strickland (Austin) and their children Emslee and Anderson, and Julie Grinnell (Thomas) and their sons Jackson and Brody. He was endlessly proud of "his girls" and spent his life surrounded by beautiful women who adored him. But it was his grandchildren who truly captivated his heart. More than anything, Danny cherished the role of "Granddad"- it was his greatest joy, and to him, his proudest legacy.
He is also survived by his brother Charlie Baker (Cathy), his sister Kathy Price (Jason), and a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends.
A celebration of Danny's life will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Lake in Summerville at 125 Summers Drive
Summerville, SC 29485 - one of his favorite places to be. All are welcome to join in honoring a life well-lived.
