Carolin retired from Olin after working multiple jobs. After retirement, her and Delmar spent years buying and remodeling older homes throughout the United States.
Carolin enjoyed gardening, crocheting, traveling, camping, reading and cooking. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
Carolin was of Christian faith, she enjoyed watching Shepard's Chapel and listening to Christian music.
Carolin was born July 24, 1935 in Carterville, IL to Russell Harry & Mable Rebecca (Gray) Collins.
Carolin married Delmar L. Hammonds on July 11, 1986. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Ron Hliwa of Marion; son Jimmie Smith of Indiana; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Johnie & Shirley Collins of Goreville, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd & Cathy Collins of Yucca Valley, CA; step-children, Lori Hammonds of Herrin, Terry Hammonds of Sesser, IL, and Vicki & Leon Null of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Lester "Dale" Smith and Louie "Rusty" Smith; grandson, Scott Cavins; two sisters, Gail King and Jeanette "Janet" Phillips; two brothers, Hubert Collins and Dean Collins; and step-daughter, Marla Shy.
Per Carolin's wishes, a private graveside will be held at Zeigler Cemetery in Zeigler, IL.
