Caroline Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by M. John Scanlan Funeral Home - Pompton Plains on Dec. 12, 2025.
Caroline Elizabeth Meyer (Nee Finnigan), daughter of the late Walter and Lucille Finnigan, beloved mother, grandmother and source of unconditional love, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 93 surrounded by her devoted family.

She dedicated her life to nurturing her expansive family, becoming the unwavering center of their world. She was admired for her strong spirit and incredible selflessness.

Her legacy is woven into the fabric of her family. Survived by her 9 children, Frank Meyer, William Meyer and his wife Betty, Cathleen Freideman and her husband Robert (Bob), Michael Meyer and his wife Laura, Louise Weingartner and her husband Larry, Walter Meyer and his Fiancé Barbara, John Meyer and his wife Susannah, Barbara Jafar and her husband Basem and Timothy Meyer and his wife Nicole. 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren and by her three siblings: Liela Klaus, Diane Austin, and Walter Finnigan, predeceased by her 3 siblings Lois Winterfeld, Jenny Moore, and Lucy Dees and many nieces and nephews.

Her days were never short of a visit or call from her loving family. She cherished every moment with each and everyone. Always putting everyone else above her own wants and needs. Never a crossword or a broken promise. She taught us love and compassion, above all in her quiet strength.

Her passion for life shone through her painting, baking, and gardening. Her artwork was a catalog of all her memories and will be treasured and passed down for generations to come. Christmas was an especially cherished time, when she would bake a variety of cookies from recipes that she perfected over the years. Her green thumb in the garden was astounding; she could magically turn a little twig into a full-grown tree. Caroline's life was lived creating beauty that we were all lucky to witness.

She will be missed beyond measure, but her lessons will live on through everyone that knew her.

Visiting will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Scanlan's, and a funeral service will be held 10 am Wednesday, December 17, 2025, also at Scanlan's. A graveside service will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery in Hardyston.
