Caroline Jean Rios of Temple, passed away on November 23, 2024, she was 76 years old. Caroline was born to Salvador and Amelia (De Leon) Hernandez in Spur, Texas, on November 6, 1948.
Caroline married the love of her life, Roy Michael Rios in Laredo in 1963, and they spent 55 years together, until Mike passed away in August of 2018. Caroline was a lifelong resident of Temple and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She served faithfully on the Altar Society and the Rosary Society.
In her free time, Caroline loved shopping, cheering on her Texas Longhorns, taking roadtrips with her sister Carmen to go to Little Joe y La Familia’s dances, listening to her brother’s music, and enjoying a margarita. But more than anything, she loved to spend time with her family.
Caroline is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Rios; her parents, Salvador and Amelia (De Leon) Hernandez; her brothers, Antonio ‘Tony Top’ Hernandez, Porfirio Hernandez, and Jesse Hernandez; her sisters, Guadalupe Valdez, Mary Gonzalez, and Clara Hernandez.
She is survived by her son, Michael Shawn Rios; her daughters, Mary Jane Plazola, and Jessica Nealy; her grandchildren, Alfonso Rios, Justin Biedrycki, Kaelan Nealy, and Lorenzo and Liliana Rios; great-grandchildren, Miguel, Mya, and Annaisa Rios, Reign Biedrycki, and Ellie, Enzo, and Elena Rios.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 6:00 P.M. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, followed by a Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. A Holy Mass will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Following the mass, Caroline will be laid to rest at the Moffat Cemetery.
Caroline’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Deacon Barney Rodriguez for his spiritual guidance and friendship to Caroline.
