Carolyn Carr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Home - Beverly on Mar. 13, 2023.
Carolyn B. (Hathaway) Carr, 64, of Beverly, passed away on Sunday, March 12, at home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Ipswich, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Agnes (Knight) Hathaway. Carolyn was the beloved wife of the late Thomas "TC" E. Carr, Sr., with whom she shared 13 years of marriage.
The baby of the family, Carol was deservedly showered in love and affection from the moment she was born. She was very fond of dancing and singing (especially Christmas carols!), and spent countless evenings dancing and enjoying music with her sisters and friends at local Beverly clubs. In her later years, she loved to reminisce about time spent with family, and had an uncanny recall for each and every detail of treasured memories. She was an avid and shameless eavesdropper, often chiming in unexpectedly from another room to fill in or correct a detail that her sisters-perhaps not as blessed with her sharp memory-had forgotten or misremembered. One of the greatest joys of Carol's life was the unwavering adoration that she and her late husband found in each other. Carol and TC were truly two of a kind, gentle souls who built a happy and laughter-filled home together. They welcomed new members into the family with an acceptance that was automatic, yet undeniably and authentically enthusiastic.
Carol was fiercely loyal to friends and family; indeed, one of the few ways to see her with anything other than a smile on her face was to recall any slights against her loved ones. She also had the keen ability to cut through the "noise", often listening to the rest of her family talk back and forth, around and around, until she would chime in suddenly with an offhand observation (almost certainly delivered with her trademark wit) that would bring instant clarity to the topic at hand and leave the rest of us laughing. Carol radiated kindness and warmth, accompanied by a strong mischievous streak; she enjoyed teasing and laughing with people, and her enormous smile while gleefully ribbing her friends and family ensured that you could never mistake her funny little remarks for anything other than love.
Throughout her life, Carol encountered numerous struggles and opportunities to be self-pitying, but she soared through those opportunities with humor, courage, and love at every turn. We are indescribably sorrowed by the loss of this vivid and precious person whose absence was felt from the moment she passed.
Carol is survived by her sisters, Cheryl (Hathaway) Damon of Beverly and Doreen Hathaway of Beverly; her nephew, Barrett (Courtney) Hathaway of Vancouver, WA; her niece, Amber (Dan) Karlin of Malden and their daughter Julie; her stepdaughter, Erin Carr of Beverly; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other beloved family members; and her cat, Rascal. She was predeceased by her parents and husband; her brother, Steven Hathaway of Raymond, NH; various beloved family members; as well as her cat, Topcat, whom she shared with her late husband.
Visiting hours for Carol will be at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Friday, March 17, from 4:00-7:00pm. The family will also be hosting a reception for relatives and friends to celebrate Carol's life on Saturday, March 18, from 12:00-3:00pm, at Off Cabot Comedy & Events, 9 Wallis St, Beverly. Sharing in the sadness of the loss of a special person. Although I didn´t know Carol for a long time, I knew her to be a genuine, kind, charismatic woman, who always had a smile on her face. One with a sincere heart and pure soul. I am certain that her spirit will live on in the many hearts she touched. It was a joy to have met Carol and to have had the honor of calling her, my friend.

Carol became an instant friend the first time I met her. She was kind, funny, and always thinking of others. I never knew her to be in a bad mood. She was the kind of person that you wanted to be around. I will miss her everyday funny posts on Facebook. Her spirit lives on and her forever smile will be remembered.
So sorry for your tremendous loss. May God comfort you all and help you to find peace.
