Carolyn Hagan Denison

Carolyn Hagan Denison, 91 of East Ridge, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Alexian Village where she resided for the past two years.
Mrs. Denison was born in Pulaski Tennessee on December 23, 1933, a daughter of the late John Herbert and Sallie Clark Hagan.
She was salutatorian at Giles County High School, then went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University, where she was Phi Beta Kappa. She taught English at Brainerd High School for 24 years and home school English for 10 years. She was a volunteer at READ and Teen Challenge.
She was a member of First Centenary Methodist Church for 68 years.
She was preceded in death her husband Alexander Milne " Sonny " Denison, Jr.. two sisters Barbara Richards and Julia Jenkins.
She is survived by her son Alexander Milne Denison, III of Topton, NC, daughter Leesa ( Mark ) Merriman of Signal Mountain, TN. Granddaughter Elaine ( Brad ) Clark 2 great grandchildren Myles and Reid Clark. Nephews Tom Jenkins of Chattanooga, John Jenkins Prescott, AZ, and Jay Richards of Franklin, TN, niece Bebe Haugen of Nashville, TN. Great nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Michelle Hunter officiating.
Interment will be in Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12- 2 pm, Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
