Darol Kent Denison, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and friend passed away in Highland, Utah on May 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, music, and devotion. He was born in Salt Lake City to Elmer M. Denison and Fern Naomi Olsen. Darol was the oldest of seven children. He married his childhood sweetheart and eternal companion, Donna Jane Schipaanboord, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1st, 1966. Their 58 year marriage was one of deep love, faith, and unity. Together they raised three children in Midvale, Utah. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found great joy in creating a home filled with warmth, support, and spiritual strength.
As a committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Darol served a mission in Austria from 1961 to 1964. He served in numerous callings, and was called as the Bishop of the Midvale East 2nd Ward. He was known for his dedication, unwavering testimony, and Christlike love for others. He loved sharing his testimony through music. As a passionate educator, Darol began his teaching career in music where he spent forty-seven years nurturing the talents of his students. In addition to his work in education, Darol was a lifelong Scouter, culminating with him receiving the Silver Beaver award. Darol had a deep passion for genealogy. He captured the lives of his family in pictures and video. His thorough documentation of his life and the lives of those he loved will bless generations to come.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna; their three children, Steven (Devanie) Denison, Laura (Spike) Amacker, and Lynnae (Andrew Hennings) Denison; eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren who will forever cherish his example and love. He is also survived by his siblings, Owen (Teresa) Denison, Myron (Karen) Denison, Kirk (Lana) Denison, Mary (Scott) Flitton, Luke (Ginger) Denison; and his brother-in-law Dan Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Connie Porter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 30th, 2025, at 6770 South 500 East in Midvale, with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:30 am. A viewing will be held at Memorial Estates at 5850 South 9th East on Thursday, May 29th from 6:00- 8:00 pm. Graveside services to follow at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
