It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of "Butch" Marcus Albert Ayudan, who peacefully passed away at his home on September 14, 2025, surrounded by family, following a courageous struggle with stage 4 cancer.

Marcus was born on September 1, 1952, in Lihue, Kaua'i, to Marcos and Charlotte Medeiros Ayudan. He graduated from Kaua'i High School and obtained a degree in diesel mechanic engineering from Kaua'i Community College. On May 19, 1990, he married Darlene Medina Ayudan, and in their 35 years together they raised five children. Marcus grew up in Kalaheo, Kaua'i, Hawai'i, and later relocated with his family to Sugar House, Utah, in 1997, eventually settling in West Jordan after purchasing their family home. Marcus worked as a diesel mechanic for McBride Sugar Plantation, Howe Rental & Sales Equipment Rental, and Sunbelt Equipment Rental until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo, Kaua'i. Marcus found joy in fishing, hunting, raising chickens, and all things related to agriculture. He was known for his funny personality; if you ever had a hard time calling him, you could be sure he was playing Pokémon Go or Candy Crush. He was a loving "Papa" who cherished his grandchildren; you could always catch him running around the house with toy guns or talking like a duck. His cheerful and humorous nature consistently drew children to him.

Marcus is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene M. Ayudan, and his children: Kelley A. Medina, Leimomi C. Tamayo (Jose), Natasha P. Bluck (Alex), and Christopher M. Ayudan. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Cristian Tamayo, (Shaylee) Tovin Medina, Alexsai Tamayo, Damien Haworth, Coen Medina, Jovanni Tovar, Brayden Ayudan, Kiaralynn Tamayo, Brianna Tovar, Sophia Tovar, Arya Haworth, Zander Haworth, Emilia Haworth, Dominic Ayudan, Allie Medina, Akira Bluck, Audrinna Ayudan, and Ryuu Bluck. He is also survived by his siblings: Wayne "Buddie" Ayudan, Laverne Ayudan Corpuz, Yvonne Hussey, Carol Cronin, and Jimmy Jimenez; and his hanai children: Tisha Ayudan, Keoki Pantorilla, Sommer Bradbury, and Andi Carroll. Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Marcos and Charlotte Ayudan; his son, Marcus Ayudan III; his grandson, Dante Tamayo; his sister, Melinda Balocan; and his brother, Arturo Jimenez.

A candlelight vigil in Marcus's honor will be held on Sunday, September 21, at 2:00 PM at his home, located at 2343 W 7680 S, West Jordan, Utah. Furthermore, a celebration of his life will take place in Kaua'i at the end of May. The family extends their sincere gratitude to Alex Bluck, Enrique Rosa Gonzalez and family, Alexsai Tamayo, West Jordan Cancer Specialists, Holy Cross hospital and staff and Bristol Hospice and staff for their compassionate care and support.
