Carolyn Sue (Anderson) Gore, age 91, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. Carolyn was born on September 14, 1934 in Mars Hill, North Carolina, and grew up on the family's dairy farm. She attended Mars Hill College and Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (Greensboro) where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. She later obtained a Master's Degree in Education from Rollins College. She relocated from North Carolina to Longwood, Florida on the recommendation of family friends, and began teaching music in 1956 at both Lyman High School and Oviedo High School. She met the love of her life and lifelong companion, Frank Gore, while they were both teaching at Lyman. They celebrated 67 years of marriage this past June. After Lyman and Oviedo, Carolyn was a fifth-grade teacher at English Estates Elementary before beginning her many years as the music teacher and choral director at Teague Middle School. She retired from Teague in 1985 after 30 years as an educator. She was beloved by her students and remained in contact with many of them over the years.
A longtime resident of Altamonte Springs, she and Frank enjoyed golfing at Rolling Hills Golf Club and raising their family in Seminole County. In retirement, Carolyn and Frank traveled extensively, with a particular love for Grand Circle Tours and many trips planned by Frank to England and Ireland. Carolyn and Frank were charter members of St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Altamonte Springs, where Carolyn sang in the choir. She and Frank moved to John Knox Village in Orange City, FL in 2014, where they formed many new friendships. Carolyn loved her family, her students, music, and teaching. She was an avid reader, was involved in adult literacy programs, and spent her life contributing her musical talents to her students, her church, and most recently serving as the pianist for devotionals at the Majestic Oaks Nursing Home at JKV.
Carolyn was a woman of strong faith and a devoted Christian. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. She will be lovingly remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend who contributed so much to those she taught and loved. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Mary (Carter) Anderson; sister Sarah Helton; and brother Franklin. In addition to her husband Frank, Carolyn is survived by sister Frances Woosley; son Michael (Tracy – who Carolyn taught in fifth grade); daughter Susan (Debbie); and beloved grandchildren, Matthew (Kiara), Alex (Brice), Nathan (Gabrielle), and Grace Adkins (Tyler).
