Carolyn Hatchell

Carolyn H. Hatchell, a beloved soul who graced this world with her presence, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024, in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born on August 2, 1945, in Virginia, and lived a life full of love, kindness, and passion.
Throughout her life, Carolyn worked as a Cook, sharing her culinary talents with those around her. Her dedication to cooking was evident in the way she would cook and feed everyone, serving fruits and vegetables in huge quantities, bushels at a time.
Aside from her work, Carolyn found joy in gardening flowers, tomatoes, and cucumbers, nurturing the beauty of nature with her green thumb. She also found solace and community in her faith, attending Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she forged meaningful connections and found spiritual guidance.
In her journey through life, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Nelson Hatchell, her mother Leona Halstead, father Ray Warren Halstead, and brother Warren Ray Halstead. She is survived by her companion Jimmie A. Dozier, daughter Melinda Saunders (Mike), son Mark E. Vaughan, stepdaughter Leslie Hatchell O'Conner, granddaughter Molly Constance Solmson Vaughan, close family friend Vince Dozier, and close family friend Bob Loeffler.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with a reception to follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share stories of her impact. Though Carolyn may no longer be with us physically, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and love. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
