Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vinyard Funeral Home - Poth on Apr. 11, 2025.
Carolyn Louise (Bauer) Hoefelmeyer passed away peacefully at Oaks Nursing Center, Burnet
TX at the age of 82 on April 10, 2025. She was born September 26, 1942 to Hilmer Henry and
Thelma Louise (Parchman) Bauer.
Carolyn married William Erwin "Billy" Hoefelmeyer on Feb. 4, 1961. They began their lives
together in San Antonio, then in 1963 moved to Dewees, where they resided until Billy's death
in 2020 and Carolyn's move to Oaks Nursing Center in 2024. Carolyn was a member of St.
John Lutheran Church in Poth, a Three Oaks 4H leader, and a member of the Home
Demonstration Club. Together with Billy, she helped start and support the Three Oaks Water
Corporation and Three Oaks Volunteer Fire Department and led the Three Oaks annual turkey
dinner fundraiser for many years. She could often be found cooking up dishes to help out with a
variety of local events and fundraisers. Both Carolyn and Billy were loyal and caring individuals
and community members and made it their mission to regularly check on and support their
friends and neighbors.
Carolyn also enjoyed a fulfilling work life, including positions with USAA, Southwestern Bell, the
Wilson County Clerk's Office, and the Floresville office of the USDA Farm Service Agency. She
took pride in the role she played in supporting local farmers and other community members.
Carolyn was a self-taught seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothing as she raised her children.
She continued to create baby blankets and other special items well into her 70s. Following her
retirement in 2012, Carolyn learned to use an embroidery machine and made a hobby out of
embroidering fabric items for friends, family, and local customers. She loved nothing more than
to make something special for those she cared about.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Erwin "Billy" Hoefelmeyer,
as well as her parents, in-laws, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Carolyn is survived by her son Mark (Kim) Hoefelmeyer; her daughter Debra Belicek (Troy
Byrd); five grandchildren: Samantha (Matthew) Durrance, Ashley Belicek, Emily Hoefelmeyer,
Evan Hoefelmeyer, and Audra Hoefelmeyer; four great-grandsons: Slayde, Nash, James, and
Jacob; her brothers Richard (June) Bauer and David (Shelly) Bauer; sister-in-law Elinor Rudolph
and brother-in-law Carl (Nelda) Hoefelmeyer, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. John Lutheran
Church in Poth.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 am at St. John's.
Interment will immediately follow the services at Dewees Cemetery (corner of FM 1344 & 541).
Pastor Kelly Tankersley of St. John's Lutheran Church will be officiating the services.

Honor of Carolyn.
