Carolyn Tatum Hubier Brown 85, of Natchitoches passed away peacefully on, Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Shreveport, LA after a brief illness. She was born in Converse, LA to her parents Elmer Alfonso and Lura Elizabeth Tatum Hubier. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Gary “Dick” Brown, sister Marilyn “Saney” Waldron, and brother Charles Hubier.
Carolyn played basketball at Converse High School and was a 1960 graduate of Louisiana Tech with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology before marrying “Dick” Brown.
After retiring from Northwestern State University, she supported her husband “Dick” in all of his military endeavors. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Later in life she was reunited with old friends while living at The Oaks in Shreveport and spending quality time with her sister. Carolyn loved LSU sports and watched them every chance she could. Lastly, she loved animals, especially her beloved companion Sofie.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Michael G. Brown of Natchitoches, LA; daughters Denise Morse (Sam) of Natchitoches, LA and Stacy Brown of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Dr. William Brown, Matthew Brown, Madison Brown, and Richard Morse (Zoe).
The family held a private graveside service on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Tony Webb, Kevin Hubier, William Brown, Matthew Brown, Madison Brown, and Richard Morse. She will be missed greatly, but her family is comforted by the fact that she is reunited with her husband and other family.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Richard G. Brown Scholarship Fund at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and The Arts, or any local Animal Shelter.
