Carolyn Janney, 91 years young, of Alexander City passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Chapman Healthcare Center. She was born on February 13, 1934, in Marion County, Alabama to Elmer Fleming and Curl Patterson Fleming. Carolyn was a devoted wife to Earl Janney, and they raised their family in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was very active in her Church, Cino Baptist where she volunteered and helped out for over 50 years. When time allowed, you could find her laying on the beach in Destin, Florida soaking up the sunshine. Taking care of and cooking for her family was her favorite past time. Her signature dishes were chicken and dumplings and German chocolate cake. In later years she resided with her daughter, Deb (John) Luedecke at Lake Martin. She loved boating with the family dog, Gracie, and enjoyed worshiping at Church in the Pines. She is survived by her daughter, Deb (John) Luedecke of Alexander City; son, David (Tiffany) Janney of San Antonio and sister-in-law Hazel Fleming of Tyrone, Georgia. Grandchildren, Holly Stringer of Florida, Gina Fortner and Trey McDowell of Georgia, Dayna Spaulding of Oklahoma, Drew Janney of Canada, Andy Luedecke and Scott Luedecke of Alabama, Kale Romberger of Texas, Logan Emerson of Alaska, and Derek Emerson of Texas; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Elmer Fleming; mother, Curl Fleming; husband, Earl Janney; daughters, Pamela Jeny and Brenda Foster; sisters, Virginia Pratt and Genelle Duggar and brother, Odell Fleming. The family will hold a Celebration of Life later in the fall for family and friends. A special thanks to "The Harbor at Opelika" for their 24-hour care and love. Thanks to Chapman Healthcare Center for her last months. Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Carolyn June Janney.
