Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. Willis "Jimmy" Funderburk, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by love and family. His life was a testament to his faith, love, and dedication to those he held dear. Born to Britton and Maudine Funderburk, Jimmy was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Tracey Funderburk, his son Terry Allen Funderburk, and his parents. Jimmy's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife of 67 years, Frances Marie Funderburk of Alexander City, AL. Their enduring love story was one for the ages, filled with unwavering support and mutual respect. He was a proud father to his son, Tim (Ann) Funderburk, and a doting grandfather to Britt (Kayla) Funderburk, Nickolas (Hannah) Funderburk, and Selena (Brandon) McKissick. His joy was multiplied as a great-grandfather to Haynes, Britton, Jack, James, Addie, Benjamin Funderburk, and Luke and Levi McKissick. Throughout his life, Jimmy was known for his thoughtful and faith-filled nature. He was a loving presence in the community, having worked as an auto mechanic at Darwin Dobbs for 25 years and Goodyear for 10 years. His commitment to excellence and service was evident in every task he undertook. A devout Christian, Jimmy was a member of Wayside Baptist Church for 60 years, where he served as a deacon, offering guidance and support to the congregation. Jimmy's interests and involvements were many and varied. He was a proud Master Mason and a dedicated member of the Gideons, spreading the word of God through his actions and words. His service to the country was marked by his 4 years in the United States Air Force, and he continued to honor his fellow servicemen as a member of the Alexander City Veteran's Honor Guard. Above all, Jimmy loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. He instilled in them the values of kindness, generosity, and faith that he lived by every day. His presence was a source of comfort and strength, and his guidance was a compass for their lives. Willis "Jimmy" Funderburk will be remembered as a man of integrity, whose loving and faith-filled approach to life left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told by those who loved him and the lives he touched. Jimmy's journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us all. He was truly a blessing to his family and community, and his legacy will endure through the generations. Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Willis Byron Funderburk.
