Pauline Griffin Funderburk

Pauline Griffin Funderburk, 91, of Union County, passed away on July 24, 2025. She was born in Union County, daughter to the late George and Gertha Austin Griffin. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Harold Funderburk, two brothers, Donald Griffin and Dwight Griffin, sister Ercel McManus, and grandson Steven Laney.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with inurnment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00PM until 1:45PM, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.

Pauline loved planting beautiful flowers, bird watching, and baking. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and granny. She loved her family with all her heart. Pauline was a member of First Baptist Church in Monroe where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a graduate of Fairview High School and Coker College. Pauline worked for the Union County Public School System for 30 years as a high school teacher. She taught at Monroe High School, Forest Hills High School, Piedmont High School, and the Union County Career Center. Pauline was a dedicated teacher, and she loved her students.

Pauline is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Laney, Jan Kerley (Scott), four grandchildren, Allison Haver, Kaden Haver, Peter Kerley and Jimmy Kerley, three nephews Lane Griffin, Alan Griffin and Mike McManus.
