Carolyn Mae (Logan) Julian was born on February 9, 1936, in Greenfield, MO, and passed away on May 19, 2025, after completing a long journey with Alzheimer's. She was the daughter of Paul and Wilma Logan. She enjoyed growing up on their farm, assisting her father with many farm chores. It was there that she developed her love for animals and became an avid horse rider. She enjoyed horseback riding throughout her adult years and participated in many trail rides on one her favorite Missouri Foxtrotters.
She was born a generation before Title IX regulations allowed for women's sports to be included in academic institutions. She developed skills as a fast-pitch softball pitcher and played on many women's softball teams that were sponsored by civic and community organizations. She and her teams traveled to play in many state and national tournaments, becoming national champions in 1954-55. She continued to play softball throughout her 70's, becoming skilled as a slow-pitch pitcher. She was also an accomplished bowler, participating in local leagues, and qualifying to compete in both state and national tournaments as well.
Carolyn graduated from Greenfield High School in 1954, where she was also active as a musician, playing cornet in the band and Drum Corps. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed attending with friends and family while growing up. After graduation, she moved to Springfield to attend Draughon's Business College where she met her husband, Jerry Julian. They were married in Miami, Oklahoma on October 11, 1958, and had two children, Tijuana and Keith. Her family was always her number one priority and was a proud and dedicated grandmother to Jayden and Logan.
She was her children's and grandchildren's biggest supporter, attending most activities, sporting and musical events that they were involved in. She shared her love of sports, music, and competitive spirit with them.
Carolyn was a long-time employee of 3M company, where she made several life-long friends. After retirement, she remained active with their retiree's club, and helped organize monthly lunches and kept up with their life events. She was also a long-time Drury Basketball Booster, holding season tickets to games in Weiser Gym and the O'Reilly Family Event Center. She was excited when Drury added the Lady Panthers to their long list of sports, and enjoyed watching the girls play. She often traveled to attend road games and post-season tournament play.
Carolyn's kindness, strength and her unwavering love for her family will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Tijuana and her husband, Mike Lenahan and his children, Chris and Ashley; son, Keith and his wife, Anne; granddaughter, Jayden Julian Broering and her husband, Rob; grandson, Logan Prescott; sister-in law Ramona Bell and her husband, Pete; brother-in-law, Larry Julian and his wife, Norma; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in Carolyn's honor can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Springfield Walk at 11433 Olde Cabin Road, St. Louis, MO 63141.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, June 6, 2025, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. It´s hard to put into words the loss of someone as kind and gracious as Carolyn. She was more than a friend - she became family. Through the love between her son and my daughter, our lives were joined, and I came to know firsthand the strength, warmth, and quiet joy she carried with her. She is someone you never forget once you met her.

Sorry for you loss
