I do remember Carolyn, and sorry to learn another classmate has passed away. It has been too long time since our Anacostia Days. Carolyn certainly lived a productive life, and she worked importantly in the medical field as an RN. A field that is important to me theses days. May Carolyn Rest in Peace. Please know that Carolyn's classmates and friends offer her family sincere sympathy and condolescences.

Sincerely,

Stanley Graves

I have so many good memories of Carolyn. She and I have been friends since elementary school and maintained our friendship through high school, and then long afterward into our `elderly´ years. In grade school, it was just a short walk through `the woods´ on a path up a hill from my house to hers. In those days we often sat on a particular fallen tree in that wooded area talking and solving the problems of our small world. One cold winter we took our ice skates to the creek behind my house, and I remember how exhilarating it was skating on that tiny patch of ice, the two of us laughing and pretending we were on a great pond. The spring of our graduation from Anacostia in 1961, my father offered me the car for a couple of weeks IF I washed and waxed it. My family had moved to Rockville that winter, and I was living with my grandmother in Congress Heights so I wouldn´t have to change schools my senior year. Carolyn came with me to Rockville, and she and I washed and waxed that car to shinning perfection. Every day thereafter we would meet at the car parked nearby the school (Carolyn, Doris, Jane, Nancy, and me) and then drive to the Hot Shoppes for a Mighty Mo, some other location, or sometimes just home. We both had a connection to the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, me at Plum Point and Carolyn at Dares Beach (or was it Drum Point?). In 2006, for a multi-class Anacostia reunion at the Rod `n´ Reel in nearby Chesapeake Beach, we attended together from my cottage at Plum Point (I´m attaching a photo). Carolyn and I met periodically over a long span of years, the last time just before Covid at the Prime Street Grill where her granddaughter was employed. I am missing Carolyn now, knowing I can´t simply pick up the phone and call her or even communicate by email. Carolyn loved her family, and I send all of you my heartfelt sympathy.

I have such good memories of my time with Carolyn in IOJD, Bethel 51, especially as she went through line. She was a gracious officer. I also remember when her mom married Linda's dad. I l lost touch with her after I left Washington D.C in 1965 but it sounds like she had a fulfilling life. RIP, Carolyn. Ann Wallace Petersen, class of '61.
