In Loving Memory of Carolyn Garrett Nate (Carrie) 85
Carolyn, affectionately known as Carrie was born January 21, 1938, and passed away January 20, 2024, in Sandy, Utah at the age of 85 surrounded by family and loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, beauty and resilience. She embraced life with her whole heart and touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Carrie was born in Nephi, Utah to Lavon Garrett and Ellen Marie Kallabacka. Later Carrie moved to Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School. She met her sweetheart Ron, they married and were later sealed in the Temple.
Carrie loved her family with all her heart. Her eternal sweetheart Ron was the love of her life and they were inseparable. They loved to travel, make memories and take long drives. Just being together was everything they ever needed.
She was an accomplished artist and shared her talent with many friends, hosting art lessons weekly.
Carrie is survived by her 4 children; 2 daughters, Lezlie (Roland) Fitts and Shauna (Joel) Johnson and 2 sons, Ronald (Maria) Nate and Darren (Amy) Nate. Her 10 grandchildren Alyssa, Peter, Alex, Maddie, Sam, Corbin, Parker, Anna, Rylie and Eleanor and 2 great grandchildren Brody and Swayze were her light. She was the best Nana in the whole world! She made each of them feel so special and so loved. The memories are endless.
Carrie loved to serve others. She was always thinking of how to reach out and help anyone in need. She was always making a meal for a family or stopping by for a visit to brighten someone's day.
Every day was the perfect day for a party! She loved a party and having family and friends over to celebrate! She made every holiday so special and memorable. Our birthdays were celebrated with her making our favorite meal. She was an amazing cook and loved to cook for her family. Her rolls were out of this world. She knew every recipe by heart. We'd ask her for a recipe and she would just say, "some of this and that". We will never be able to make it like our Mom.
She was the most selfless person. Everyone came before her. She always made you feel like the most loved and important person.
We will miss her so much, but know that one day we'll be together again.
Love you sweet Mom!
A big thanks to the aides and nurses at Canyons Hospice who assisted her in her final days. We would especially like to thank the loving aides and staff at Crescent Memory Care who cared for Mom in the final weeks of her life. Your kindness was above and beyond.
