Carolyn Vangundy Rumfield 76 of Bainbridge died 4:35 pm Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at her home. She was born August 17, 1945, in Bourneville the daughter of the late Willis George and Flossie Eudora (Cooper) VanGundy. On December 9, 1961, she married James A. Rumfield who passed from this life September 12, 2013.
Surviving are her daughters, Tonda (Neil) Morris and Toby (Rob) Waller both of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Chase (Christine) Morris, Chad (Tammy) Morris, Colton (Erin) Morris, Tristan (Matt) Norman and Tanner (Ryan Lemaster) Walls; step grandchildren, Bob Waller, and Cliff (Kate) Waller; great grandchildren, Hallie, Bentley, Chance, Chasity and Vivian Grace Morris, Barret and Jet Norman; step great grandchildren, Molli, Madeline, Gavin, Cameron and Milli Waller; sister Ann Eiring; brother Rodney (Debbie) VanGundy.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, James Todd Rumfield; son-in-law Michael Walls; step grandson Rick Waller; and her siblings Willis, Leroy “Bud”, John, Roger, Mary, Opal and Leila “Bugs”.
Carolyn was an amazing cook and was especially known for her pie baking. But most of all her family was her pride and joy, they were her life.
Friends may visit with Carolyn’s family from 2-4 pm Sunday at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home of Bainbridge. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Monday, August 23, 2021, at Storms Chapel with Elder Rodney VanGundy officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband in Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Potts Hill Rd.
