Margaret Lillian "Meg" Rumfield

Margaret "Meg" Lillian (Wise) Rumfield, of Grand Ledge, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 77 in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Born on October 12, 1947, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Meg's early life was rooted in the values of family, faith, and education.
A proud graduate of Neshannock High School's class of 1965, Meg's pursuit of knowledge led her to the Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1968. Her thirst for learning continued at Carlow College, where she received her bachelor's degree in 1972. Meg's academic journey culminated at Carnegie Mellon University's John Heinz School, where she earned her master's degree in 1989, a testament to her unwavering dedication to her profession.
Meg's career as a registered nurse was marked by her unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Her professional journey saw her working at several esteemed institutions, including Grove City Hospital and Montefiore Hospital. She dedicated a significant portion of her career to the South Hills Health System Home Health Agency, eventually retiring as the Branch Manager for Home Health and Hospice. Her work not only showcased her expertise but also her profound ability to lead with empathy and care.
A woman of deep faith, Meg was baptized at the Third United Presbyterian Church in New Castle, PA. She later became a cherished member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lansing, MI, where her faith continued to be a guiding light in her life and in the lives of those around her.
Meg's life was enriched by the love of her family. She is survived by her son, Dr. David (Jennifer Kuhlman) Wise Christy, and her sister, Mary (Richard) Chappell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mary (Hopkins) Wise, her beloved husband Verd Rumfield Jr., and her brother Kenneth David Wise.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lansing, 510 W. Ottawa St, Lansing, MI 48933 with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made in loving memory of Meg Rumfield to the First Presbyterian Church of Lansing or the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
