Carolyn T. Sherman, 82 , of North Kingstown, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025. Smart, sassy, fun & an inspiration to many, Carolyn was loved by all who knew her. She was a R.I. girl from the very beginning, living most of her life between Cranston & Narragansett.
She earned her BA in English from URI, worked for Electric Boat and volunteered counseling AA recovery patients. She found her true happy place as a 28-year treasured employee of The Rose Shack in North Kingstown. Often referred to as the lady in the hat, she guided the inexperienced as well as the seasoned gardeners with equal aplomb. She was happiest with her hands in the dirt or her feet in the sand. Carolyn composted and recycled before it was cool and long before monetary deposits encouraged the rest of us to do so. She lived her life by the Campsite Rule, "to leave the world a little better than you found it".
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Howard and Elsie Sherman, by her older brother David Sherman and her niece Whitney Sherman.
She is survived by her younger brother Howard "Wig" Sherman, Sisters-in-law Paula Sherman and Robin Sanson, nephews David Sherman, Christopher Sherman and Jonathan Sherman, her nieces Linda Sherman, Alexandra Sherman Shalvoy and Maegan Sherman.
A graveside memorial will be planned next spring in Wilton, CT.
