Carolyn Marie Guiffreda Strozzo, age 90, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Brown's Health and Rehabilitation in Statesboro under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Carolyn leaves behind a multitude of loved friends and family, lots of whom will have a huge void from the absence of her small body. Born April 28, 1935 in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of Frank and Bessie Triscari Guiffreda. She was raised by her aunt Rose Triscari Russo and her husband Charles Russo in Jamestown, where she attended school and worked in retail. As a young woman, she married her childhood friend, Anthony C. Strozzo, and she happily moved south to Georgia with him. From then on, Carolyn proudly claimed to be a southern girl.
Many people still remember Carolyn from her days of being one of the pleasant cashiers at the old Piggly Wiggly in Statesboro. She always had a good time working with her friends. Carolyn's sweet disposition, good nature and natural wit never left her. She was always fun to be around, and never had bad words for anyone. One of her most famous quotes to her children growing up, was "kill them with kindness." She just didn't believe fighting ugly with ugly ever accomplished much. She loved people, and cherished her family more than life itself.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Joseph, Phillip and Louis Guiffreda, sister Ida Griffin, and her loving husband, Anthony C. Strozzo. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Strozzo Anderson (David Cook), son, Jeffrey Steven Strozzo (Marisa), granddaughters, Alyssa Rae Tootle (Alex), Toni Elizabeth Anderson, and great grandson Anthony Wilder Fitzsimmons, as well as several nieces, nephews, family and friends who all miss her greatly.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff and friends and Brown's Health and Rehabilitation, who have become our family as well. We love you. And thank you to Ogeechee Area Hospice for the guidance and care during mom's last few days on this earth.
The family will receive visitors on Monday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Statesboro. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am with Father Jason Adams officiating.
Interment will be at Bulloch Memorial Gardens, with a reception following at St. Matthew's social hall.
Pallbearers will be David Cook, Rick Mincey, John Overlander, Douglas Porter, Tim Strozzo, and Alex Tootle.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ogeechee Area Hospice, PO Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30458.
