Epsie "Carrie" Lee Forehand Crocker, 106 years old, went to be with her Lord on February 28, 2025. Carrie was born on February 18, 1919, in Bonifay (Holmes County) Florida, to James Robert Forehand "Big Daddy" and Lela Martela Pitts Forehand. She attended Florida State College for Women (FSCW) in Tallahassee, Florida and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. In 1951 she moved to Monticello, Florida with her husband, Uncas Tecumseh Crocker where he opened the first Veterinary Hospital in Jefferson County.
Carrie was a strong Christian and attended the Methodist Church in Monticello, Florida. She was active in her church and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She studied and read through her Bible numerous times and was always ready to throw her arms up with joy and strongly share her love and knowledge of her Savior.
In addition to her love of studying God's word, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her loved ones. Her family, which could be up to 20 or more at a time, would gather at her house on many Sundays to enjoy a lunch from her bountiful garden harvest. When her children were growing up, she was an active Girl Scout Leader for many years and enjoyed camping trips with her troops to the North Carolina mountains. Those mountains were always one of her favorite places to visit, explore, hike, and take in God's beauty. As a result of her active presence in the life of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was often affectionately known as "Ma Carrie" by their friends and other young people.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Dr. Uncas Tecumseh Crocker of Monticello, Florida; brothers: S.L. Forehand and Clarence Forehand, both of Bonifay, Florida; and sisters: Eva Roberts of Pensacola, Florida, and Annie Lee Coates of Bonifay, Florida. She is survived by her sons: Robert Lemuel Crocker (Rosa) of Plano, Texas, and Charles Lamar Crocker (Tempie) of Monticello, Florida; daughter, Susan Crocker Anderson (Don) of Monticello, Florida. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandsons.
A Graveside service and interment will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Roseland Cemetery in Monticello, Florida, officiated by Dr. Justin Nalls of Macon GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to David Jeremiah ("Turning Point"), the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, or Big Bend Hospice.
