Carrie Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Andrews Funeral Home, Inc. - El Dorado on Mar. 9, 2026.
Carrie Louise Scott "Mamaw" was born on December 31, 1949, in El Dorado, to the late Isaac John Scott (I.J.) and Laura B. Bridges Scott.

At an early age, Carrie accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with Morning Star Baptist Church #2. She later became a member of Evergreen Baptist Church, where her faith continued to grow and guide her throughout her life.

Carrie attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1968. During her high school years, she was an exceptional majorette, carrying herself with grace, confidence, and school pride.

As a young woman, Carrie moved to Chicago, where she worked for Campbell Soup Company and at Jacks Lounge. She later spent many years in California, where she devoted herself to raising her beloved children, Derrick and Connie. Eventually, she made Plano, TX her home, and where she built lasting friendships and treasured memories.

Carrie loved her family deeply. She was affectionately known as "Mamaw," a name spoken with warmth and love. The bond she shared with her siblings was unbreakable, and rooted in loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought endless light into her life.

On February 26, 2026, Carrie peacefully departed this earthly life at VITAS Hospice. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she now rests in the arms of her Savior.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ray Charles Scott, Isaac Earl Scott, Sammy Lee Scott and Jesse James Scott; granddaughter Ayeala Wilson and other loved ones who welcomed her home.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted son, Derrick Smith (Crystal); her loving daughter, Connie Wilson (Sheddrick); her grandsons, Derrick and DeAndre Smith; her granddaughters, Sumaiya Wilson Dasia Smith; five adored great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Glover (Anthony) and Cynthia Brown (Morris); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Carrie's love, strength, and unwavering faith will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
