Carrie B. Dumas-Smith, born to the Late Mary E. and Willie H. Dumas Sr. June 4th, 1944 in Coy Alabama. Carrie re-united with a heavenly host of angels on Sunday, July 27th, 2025. There's laughter and rejoicing around the Throne!
Carrie accepted Christ at an early age and attended the Emanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John R. Rhoden. Carrie was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, nurse and friend to many!
Carrie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School with the Class of 1962. She applied and was accepted into the PJC Nurses Program where she later received her LPN Certification as a Surgical Tech Nurse. During her years of employment, Carrie was employed at Baptist Hospital for more than 22 years. After leaving Baptist, she transitioned into private health care and worked for Dr. James Carruth, MD for a number of years. Carrie later relocated to Fayetteville, NC and continued her nursing career with the Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg for more than 20 years until her retirement.
Carrie was highly requested by doctors for her expertise on scheduled and unscheduled surgeries. Carrie loved her family and family gatherings and often had holiday dinners at her home.
Carrie died at her daughter's home in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband( s'}, Johnny Thompson and Harold Smith; her parents, Mary E. and Willie H. Dumas Sr.; sister Barbara Dumas; brothers, Willie H. Dumas Jr. and Donald L. Dumas.
Carrie's legacy will live on through her children: Carol Thompson Grace and Tammy Smith McMillan (Christopher) grandkids Olivia Grace and Samara McMillan all of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sisters - Nettie Williams, Gloria Lewis, and Michelle Dumas all of Pensacola, Florida; brothers - Robert (Mary) Dumas of Memphis, Tennessee; Melvin (Theresa) Dumas of Pensacola, Florida; aunts -Clara (Cleveland) James of Pensacola, Florida and Mary Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
"I received a call just the other day, and nawww, it wasn't on three-way! The Master Himself was on the other end, and He whispered my dear, this is not the end! You see Carrie, you kept the faith and I will keep the promise! He gently closed my eyes and said PEACE be THINES!"
