House of Wright Mortuary & Cremation Services, Inc. - New Castle CountyCarroll Alderman, Jr., (Junior), 76 passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in Wilmington, DE after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Son of Essie Lee and Carroll Alderman, Sr, he was born May 23, 1949 in Surrency GA. At the tender age of 18, he moved to Wilmington, DE and with an eighth-grade education he was able to hold down a job with The Wilmington Chemical Company for over 25 years and finished out his career with Johnson and Johnson. Junior was a giving soul for any and every one that had the blessing of meeting him on this path of life. He helped his mother raise his four younger siblings in Delaware before turning his attention to his four wonderful children that he taught them how to be independent and true to themselves. One thing he made sure of is that come HELL or high water each child was going to finish HIGH SCHOOL because he wanted his children to do better in life by getting their education.
Junior enjoyed life to the fullest but he had a few special loves: CARS, FISHING, and FOOTBALL! LET’S GO EAGLES!!! Ever grateful that he got to see the Eagles win the 2025 championship. No one could live down that win NOT ONCE they beat down KC. A true “EAGLE” fan! However, he did enjoy the competitive nature within the family with two children and a son-in-law supporting the San Francisco 49ers. NO Worries, DAD we will carry on the football competitive nature just for you! Fishing was his specialty and he would go every chance he could. There never was a question that Junior would not ever have his fishing license or fishing poles on hand when the season started. Your BABY GIRL got you on this one dad she will keep up your tradition. Let’s not forget his many cars. For us kids, driving any one of his cars meant there were at least 10,000 plus rules, it was better to just take the bus than to drive the car.
Junior is preceded to Heaven by his beloved father, Carroll Sr and brother Ortis Alderman, twin sisters, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his four children, Gloria Alderman of Wilmington, DE; daughter Faye Alderman, of Wilmington, DE; son Alex Alderman and wife Renee; son Donavon Alderman and wife Raegan, and daughter, Jobena Thompson and husband, Ky, of New Castle, DE; Five grandchildren: Jayla, Tre’von, Madison, Ariana, and Jordyn. Mother Elder Essie Lee Alderman; Brother James Alderman of Wilmington, DE; Sisters Christine Crosby; Renee Alderman of Wilmington, DE as well as many sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Junior was a deeply beloved father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend. His passing came after a heartfelt fight with lots of hope and prayers to the end. He was strong and always let you know he lived a full life!
TO OUR DAD: Dad you will be greatly missed by all and we your children love you to the moon and back and are very blessed to have had you as our father. LOVE YOU ALWAYS until we meet again! Love, Faye, Alex, Monty, and Charnie
