Carroll Baize Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pippin Funeral Home - Camden Wyoming on Dec. 31, 2025.
Carroll Ray Baize, 88, of Dover, DE passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 27, 2025. He was a resident of Harmony at Kent-Dover.

"Ray" was born to Cecil and Louise Baize in McHenry, KY on November 8, 1937 and grew up in Louisville. He always told the story of swimming across the Ohio River as a youngster and challenging his friends - he always won!

He joined the Air Force in 1955 and served in Germany, where he met and married Monika Jantsch in 1960. They had 3 children and divorced in 1975. He also served in the Vietnam War, 2 tours in South Korea, and several stateside bases. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1978 and later worked in Refrigeration and A/C at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC, fully retiring 20 years later.

Ray loved fixing and tinkering with anything electrical or mechanical. He also loved taking road trips with his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Louise Baize, and his brother Billy G. Baize.

Ray is survived by his sons, Patrick D. Baize (Karen) of Seguin, TX, Michael Ray Baize (Donna) of Dover, DE, and daughter Kathryn B. Scott (Jimmy) of Ellendale, DE; grandchildren Sarah A. Baize of Austin, TX, Joshua D. Scott (Brianne) of Lincoln, DE, Jeffrey D. Scott of Philadelphia, PA, and Jonathan Ray Scott of Ellendale, DE; great-grandchildren Sebastian G. Reynolds of Seguin, TX and Austin J. Scott of Lincoln, DE; his beloved Aunt Lavada in Indiana; several nephews and cousins in Indiana, West Virginia and Kentucky; and the special and dear love of his, Claudia Messick of Easton, MD, where he lived prior to entering the assisted living facility.

Ray's wish was to be cremated. Services with Military honors will be at Lebanon Veterans Cemetery in Kentucky in May of 2026.
