Obituary for Carroll Dean Buck
Carroll Dean Buck, age 88, of Lake Isabella, passed away on February 1, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Dean was born on January 21, 1938, in
Cassopolis, Michigan. He spent his childhood on a farm, where he developed a lifelong passion for horses and music. During his high school years, he played trombone in the school band, an early sign of his musical talent and enthusiasm.
Service to Country and Family
At the age of 18, Dean enlisted in the Marine Corps. He performed in the Marine Corps marching band, playing at several notable events-including a performance for the Queen of England. During his time in the military, Dean married Phyllis Hornbeak, and together they raised two daughters. After his service to his country, Dean began a career as a mason and bricklayer , dedicating almost 38 years to his craft. In 1989, his 1st love, Phyllis passed.
A New Chapter
In 1990, Dean married Judy Morehouse. He graciously welcomed Judy's three sons into his life, becoming a devoted "second" father and embracing the expanded family with warmth and kindness. In 1994, Dean and Judy moved to Squirrel Valley, where Dean continued working as a bricklayer and mason until his retirement in 1999.
Music and Community
After retirement, Dean remained active in the local music scene, joining orchestras and performing with the jazz group "Jazz Tones." Both Dean and Judy became dedicated members of Mt View Baptist Church, where they were deeply involved in the Music Ministry and served as worship leaders, sharing their love of music and faith with the community.
Family and Remembrance
Dean is survived by his wife Judy, his two daughters, two stepsons, and a large extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His inurnment will take place at The National Cemetery in Bakersfield, Calif
