Carroll P. Cunningham

Carroll Preston Cunningham, age 85, died on March 7, 2026, at his home in Shelby County.

He was born on January 5, 1941, in Salvisa, Kentucky located in Mercer County to the late Alonza Carnegie Cunningham and Margaret Parrott Cunningham.

He was a proud graduate of Anderson County High School. Carroll was a member of First Christian Church of Shelbyville. He worked off the farm for 16 years. He always believed there was room for all sizes of farmers. He enjoyed fishing with a cane pole and restoring old tractors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Zelma Rae Cunningham Ritter.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Parido Cunningham, his children, Ivan Cunningham of Bagdad, Robin Dye (Garry) of Louisville, James Carnegie Cunningham (Melinda) of Bagdad, his grandchildren, Chastity Tuggle (Larry) of LaGrange, Robby Singleton (Cassie) of Shelbyville, Jessica Keller (Jeremy) of Bedford, Samuel Young (Katelyn) of Louisville, Joshua Dye (Carlos) of San Diego, CA, Mary Emily Dye of Louisville, Elizabeth Cunningham (Alex) of Jeffersonville, IN, 23 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, his brother, Roy Cunningham of Shelbyville, his sister, Joyce Gritton , brother in law, Bobby Ritter, both of Lawrenceburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3-8 P.M. Thursday, March 12th and after 10:00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
