With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Frances Louise Cunningham, who departed this life on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on Friday, October 22, 1937, in Caruthersville, MO, she was a member of Crossroads First Church of God in Libertyville. Frances dedicated her life to the service of others, symbolizing compassion and care in all that she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents Buster and Mary (Mann) Frix; two children, David Erik Cunningham and Amie Lynn Cunningham; two siblings, Wilda Faye Shepard and Buddy Frix.
Frances was a highly respected Registered Nurse, with a remarkable 60-year career in healthcare where she earned national recognition for her dedication and skill. She viewed nursing not just as a profession, but as a divine calling to care for those in need. Throughout her life, she was a beacon of hope and a guiding light, always ready to point others to Christ through her actions and words.
In her cherished home in Farmington, MO, Frances found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved reading the Bible, gardening, and nurturing her beloved chickens, whom she lovingly referred to as her "babies." An avid baker and seamstress, she delighted in creating recipes and sewing projects, often sharing her creations with family and friends. Known affectionately as "Mammaw," she extended her nurturing spirit to everyone around her, earning the love and respect of all who knew her.
Frances leaves behind her two sons, Dr. Mark Timothy Cunningham of Farmington and Dr. Jeffry Scot Cunningham, and wife Michele of Winston, Georgia, who will forever carry her legacy of love, faith, and kindness; She also leaves her eleven cherished grandchildren, Dustin Erik Cunningham and wife McKenzie of Campbell MO, Tiffany Dawn Cecil and husband Jacob of Campbell MO , Andrew Bishop Cunningham of Farmington, Melanee Erica Kissinger and husband David of Park Hills, Maggee Elise Walls of St. Louis, Maycee Elina Cunningham of Winston, Georgia, Kristen Rose Rogers of Farmington, Stephanie Louise Peters-Winters and husband Kyle of Harvell, MO, Jessica Lynn Peters-Bogan and husband Jacob of Lebanon, MO, Katie Weathers and husband Joe of Bonne Terre, and Ryan Thomas Storie of Park Hills; twenty nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister Sherry Drye; along with her extended family and friends, will remember her as a remarkable woman who selflessly dedicated her life to caring for others.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son- Taylor Chapel on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 12:00 P.M. until service time of 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Mike Winick officiating. Burial will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery, Doe Run. All who knew and loved her are invited to come together in honor of a life well-lived, filled with love, faith, and service.
Frances Louise Cunningham's presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Shared Blessing in Bonne Terre, or St. Jude Children’s Research in Memphis, TN. that reflects her passion for caring for others.
