Carroll L. Schanfish, 91, of Moline, IL, passed away, October 5, 2025, at Hope Creek Nursing Rehab & Care, East Moline.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.
Les was born on September 17, 1934, in Texarkana, AR, the son of Dudley and Ida Mae (Philyaw) Schanfish. In 1954 he married the love of his life Nellie Marie Burns. They were married 65 years before her passing on January 11, 2019.
In 1960 they moved to Quincy, Illinois where Les started his own tile and carpet business. In 1965, Les started a position at John Deere in Moline. In 1966, the family moved to Moline. He retired from John Deere in 1995 with 30 years of service.
Les was a member of the Masons and a member of the Calvary Church in Moline. He coached softball for several years while his own children were younger. He was also a supporter of the Geneseo Knights Drum & Bugle Corp.
He loved to watch John Wayne westerns, play cards and spend time with family and loved ones. Especially all his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Carol Hann, Randy (Beki), Larry, Ron (Wendy), Chuck (Judi), and Kevin (Serena); fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, his brother Kenneth and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nellie, siblings WH (Betty Ann), Ed, Pauline Woodell, Barbara (Jigs) Love; brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Nellwyn Burns, sister-in-law Pat Schanfish; son-in-law Fred Hann, daughter-in-law Leinese Schanfish, grandson Brad Hann, great grandson Jarrade Smith.
