Carroll Terence "Terry" Smith

Carroll Terence "Terry" Smith died peacefully at his home on February 27th.

Born on September 9, 1946, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late A. Carroll Smith and the late Katherine (Brady) Smith.

After graduating from Towson High School, he served two years of active duty in the United States Army, stationed in South Korea on the DMZ, earning the rank of Sergeant with an honorable discharge in 1968.

On his return home, he completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Baltimore.

He began his career at the old Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company in 1972, remaining with the company for 31 years, retiring from Verizon in 2003.

He was an avid lacrosse fan and never missed a game whenever his sons or grandson played for Boys' Latin School or at their respective colleges and universities. In recent years, he had great interest in following his seven grandchildren in their various activities, whether soccer, lacrosse, basketball, swimming, or dance.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret (Roche) Smith, his sons Ryan (Susan), Michael (Elizabeth), and Patrick (Analeigh) and seven grandchildren Ben, Lexi, Emerson, Penelope, Maggie, Caroline and Hal.

He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Shields Smith, and brothers in law James Roche (Joan) and Michael Roche (Cathy) and his nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Road (Beltway Exit 26) on Wednesday, March 11th, from 4:00-7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where Terry was a communicant, on Friday, March 13th, at 9:00am. The interment will be private.
