Carson James Wohlwend (24) died on February 26th, 2024 in a single vehicle accident south of Green Pond, South Carolina.
Carson was born in Sumter, South Carolina on October 21, 1999 to Natalie while she was serving on active duty in the United States Air Force. His spirit would prove as bountiful as his dark hair was long. The military life would keep Carson moving multiple times over the next several years, undoubtedly forming a restless spirit that he'd exude throughout his life. Carson met his father, Kyle and his beloved dog Max, in Las Vegas, Nevada before later moving to San Diego, California where he was already showing signs of his natural athleticism and fun loving nature. Carson left San Diego for Biloxi, Mississippi where he began playing football, where he wowed coaches and parents alike with his hitting and running ability. Kyle received orders to Beaufort, South Carolina in 2010 and Carson would finally be able to call a place home for many years to come. Carson chased his passions at Riverview Charter School, Beaufort High, and Wando High where he continued to flash his abilities in football and track; the latter as a natural first-rate high school hurdler. While the hurdles came easy to Carson, staying on a path in life absent of trouble would prove more elusive and difficult. Regardless on his missteps, Carson remained a warm and loving son, friend, and grandchild. Carson had recently reclaimed his life and was working two full-time positions in Beaufort and moving forward towards positivity, with just as much swiftness as he had on the track.
Carson was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather James Lawrence Snider Jr. He is survived by his mother, Natalie Snider Wohlwend, father Kyle Wohlwend, sister Kayla Wohlwend, maternal grandmother Linda Snider, paternal grandmother and grandfather Karla and Clarence Wohlwend, aunt and uncle Stacy and Victor Prince, aunt Jamie Snider, aunt and uncle Tracey and Kevin Miley, cousins William Watt, Gabe Prince, Alex Miley, and Ryan Miley.
There will be a viewing for family and all friends at Anderson Funeral Home in Beaufort from 5-7pm on Thursday, February 29th. There will be a church service at First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort on Friday, March 1st beginning at 3pm. A reception will be belay at Hearth on Bay Street at 4:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Low Country Hope House. Donations can be made via Venmo, noted in memory of Carson Wohlwend, to @LowCountry-HopeHouse.

After a number of years not seeing Carson, he came to visit me. I saw before me a young man trying to make his way in this life, a long road to walk. He was a charming, handsome young man that seemed to be on his way. I appreciated and enjoyed Carson visiting with me and talking about his future. Saying goodbye to Carson I wished him well and prayed for him. Carson will be missed by all who knew this young man. Love to you Carson, Aunt Margaret.
