Redmon Funeral HomeAKRON - Carvel Lee Johnson, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2025.
Born in Livingston, TN, he was an Akron resident for most of his life and retired as a machinist from Akron Equipment Company. Carvel was a founding trustee of Chapel Hill Christian School, and life-long and active member of Chapel Hill Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, where he served in Boys' Brigade and Pioneer Clubs, and where he also served as Missionary Treasurer and for several years, as a Trustee.
Carvel was a wonderful and loving Husband, Dad, Papa and Great-Papa, and he always thought of his family before himself. After Bobbie, his loving wife of 64 years, went home to be with the Lord in 2021, Carvel continued loving and serving his family and friends. He showed love and kindness to everyone he met, and he was very grateful to all those who helped him and provided his medical care, especially during the past few weeks. Carvel was a life-long follower and disciple of Jesus, and he prayed for his family and friends daily. It was not uncommon to see and hear Carvel praying every night, as he lifted his family and friends to the Father. Carvel often shared his faith with others, and especially during the last few weeks, he was eager to proclaim the love Jesus and His saving grace with many of the health care providers who cared for him.
Carvel leaves us with a great and amazing legacy of a Godly Man, Husband, Dad, Papa and Great-Papa who lived each day for his Lord and Savior.
Carvel was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, and parents, Milburn and Henrietta Johnson. He is survived by his children, Jeff, Pam (Jim) McHugh and Joel; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Brad), Jon, Stacie, Brandon (Melissa), Jenna (Mitch), Jamie (Ben), Benjamin (Lauren), Bethany and KK; and seven great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Elijah, Levi, Briella, Beckett, Aliyah June, and Micah, as well as his sister, Wanda.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Chapel Hill Church, 1160 Howe Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls 44221, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 12 noon, where friends may call from 11 AM, until time of service.
