Cary Michael "Mike" Bennett, 76, passed away peacefully October 15, 2025.
Born and raised in Akron, Ohio on October 26, 1948, Mike was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the U.S. Army and Military Police.
He was preceded in death by parents Huie Clayton Bennett and Birdie Lee Lappin Bennett; first wife, Susan; brothers, Nelson and Ronald, sisters, Jean Philbin and Patricia Neff; nieces and nephews, Cortnie Bennett, Jill, Jimmy and Kenny Philbin, Ed and Justin Brennan, Mark Swingle Jr., Cathy and Tammy Lucas.
Mike is survived by his caring and loving wife, Marissa M. Bennett; son Justin Khim Mallari; sister, Mary Brennan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins who dearly loved him. Among his many friends, those closest to him were Tabby and Denny King, Mike and Elaine Visich, and Veteran buddy, James McCail.
Mike married Marissa in 2012 and traveled the world extensively with her. He was a "nice guy"; a very good husband, father and uncle. He was also an "old soul" who loved Dr. John, the Beatles, Blues music, New Orleans, cruises and fests. Friday night poker games and then parties at his log cabin in Randolph were always entertaining. Occasional "movie nights" at his home in Green were a special family treat. What was Mike's favorite evening TV show? "What is Jeopardy". Mike was also a hard working, practical, generous, and loving man who retired after working for Mohawk Rubber, WSLR Radio and Miracle Ear.
Mike always said, "Don't Forget The Boogie..." The Dude abides.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. on Tuesday, October 21st from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Mike will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
