CASEY DILMUS HOWELL, 53, beloved husband of Delilah Coleman Howell, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025 in Wellstar MCG Medical Center in Augusta, GA.
Born in Greenville, SC, Casey was a son of Ronald Alan Howell and Wilma Woods Howell. He proudly served 18 years in the U.S. Army. He was deployed twice to Afghanistan (Kandahar Province), and to Bosnia, Kosovo and Germany. When he met Delilah, he owned Superior Grounds, a land clearing company in the Upstate of South Carolina and moved to the area 3 years ago to build a life with her.
Casey taught himself to play the guitar and shared that passion with others wanting to learn by giving them equipment and confidence to get started. He played guitar in many establishments around the upstate, often as a member of the Mud Bridge Road Band. When he moved to the CSRA, he continued his passion of playing in local establishments, parking lots and doorways with good acoustics, just sharing his love of music. Riding motorcycles was nothing new to Casey as he grew up on dirt bikes and raced them as an adult after his career in the Army. He bought his first Harley when he and his wife met. They shared the love of travel on the bikes, making trips throughout the Southeast to as far as the Ozarks. He’d found his match who shared a passion for living life. They also enjoyed hunting together.
His greatest joy most recently was playing with his grandson, Elliot. His heart spilled over with love and his eyes shined bright each time they were together. He also dearly loved his grandchildren, Chandler, Carson and Solomon from step children in a previous marriage. As his love for life grew, so did his faith. He has shared with others, his love of the Lord and knew when he was called home it would be a glorious day!
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife, Delilah is his mother, Wilma Howell, Ridge Spring, SC; his father, Ronald Howell, Greenville, SC; his son, Mason “Gus” Howell (Sophia), Woodruff, SC; grandson, Elliot Howell; his brother, Shane Howell, Spartanburg, SC; his brother-in-law (raised with Gus), Jesse Bernhardt (Samantha), Gray Court, SC.
