Cassandra Garbow

Waabishkaanakwadookwe, Cassandra Lynn Garbow, age 39, passed away on February 1, 2026. A Visitation was held at 7 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Baadwewidang Community Center on the Mille Lacs Reservation. A Funeral Ceremony was held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Baadwewidang Community Center on the Mille Lacs Reservation with Baabiitaw officiating. Interment will be in the Vineland Burial Grounds. Arrangements are with the LeMieur Funeral Home in Onamia.

Waabishkaanakwadookwe, Cassandra Lynn Garbow was born and raised on the Mille Lacs Reservation, where she attended and graduated from Nay Ah Shing High School. She also attended Fond du Lac Community College. Cassandra enjoyed going to pow wows, spending time with her family, and caring for her dog, Tails. She loved to travel, especially on her senior class trip to Hawaii. For the past ten years, Cassandra has been doing dialysis treatments, where she would easily make new friends. She loved everyone and will be dearly missed.

Cassandra is survived by her mother, Caryn Mitchell; sisters, Crystal Garbow, Kayla Garbow; niece, Leighnah Garbow; aunts, Bridget Mitchell, Mary Day, Leslie Day, Jennifer Mitchell, Ruth Garbow, Lorna Garbow, Wanda Nickaboine; great aunties, Gladys Sam, Shirley Boyd, Tammy Smith, Debra Smith, Victoria Smith, Gloria Nickaboine; uncles, Roger Garbow, Sonny Benjamin, Fenton Vanwert; great uncles, Terry Smith, Darryl Smith, David Smith, and Andy Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kevin Garbow; and significant other, Travis Powers;

grandparents, Lynda Mitchell, Fred Day, Lillian Garbow, Lester Sam; aunties, Beverly Garbow, Arvina Benjamin; her cousin, Justin Leecy; uncles, Wendell Leecy, Duane Wind Sr., Donald Sam Jr., Robert Nickaboine Sr., Ronald Smith, Rodney Smith, Marvin Smith, Harvey Garbow, Virgil Garbow, Pete Garbow, and Adrian Garbow.
