Cassandra “Sandy” Ann Morris was born in Big Spring, TX to Tommy and Connie Pool on July 23, 1958. She was called to heaven on January 4th, 2024.

Sandy moved from Big Spring to Odessa when she was just a baby. She graduated from Permian High School in 1976. After working at the Rexene/Huntsman plant for many years she decided to pursue a degree in psychology. She graduated from The University of Texas Permian Basin in 2008 and taught all over ECISD before retiring in 2021. Sandy was involved with many organizations over several decades, a few being Christmas in Action, Odessa Humane Society, Flatlanders Ski Club, Texas Ski Council, and Ector County Republican Women’s Club. Sandy met Mike in 1992 and the rest was history. Sandy and Mike were married on November 25, 2010, but were together over 30 years. They raised kids and grandkids all while traveling the world. They traveled all over North America and Italy, Austria, France, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Belize, Jamaica, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands. The last big trip was to Nepal with nine other good friends on a ten-day hike around the base area of Mount Everest, although she was the lone hiker riding horseback! An avid animal advocate since birth, her first dog she named Goggie. Over the years she had a giant salt water aquarium, several parrots, a sugar glider, cats, too. But her life-long favorites were her dogs Alex, Kimik, Aleutia, Rex, Bruiser, Tyson, Tika, Star and Naw’la (a rescue from New Orleans). Sandy was truly a one-of-a-kind person. She could go anywhere and end up talking to someone, stranger or not. She often said, “Is there a sign on my forehead that says, ‘talk to me,’ as an effort to hide the fact she genuinely loved it. She went through life unafraid and excited to experience anything. Coming in at 5’ tall, she was a force to be reckoned with. If she were ever underestimated, she would not only prove she could do it, but it would be her way, which was obviously the best way. She was dependable, though often late, and loved fiercely. Always willing to go as far as it would take to protect her loved ones. She always credited her fiery nature to being a Leo, which to her, meant she could be as stubborn as she wanted. She touched the lives of many and enjoyed being a part of the fun.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Connie Pool; and brother Tim Pool.

She is survived by husband, Mike Morris; daughter, Serenity Stringer; daughter, April Herriage and her husband Stephen; grandchildren, Kaden Ellison, Hannah Barnhart, Aiden, Greyson and Weylon Stringer, Chance, Cannon and Caycee Herriage;  mother-in-law, Joan Morris; brothers, Gerald Pool and his wife Marcia Maxwell, who she called her “California Sister”; Tommy Pool and his wife Suzan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends she loved so much.
