Funeral service for Catarino " Cat" Rico Perez, 67, will be at 10 am Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Crossing Church. Visitation will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, from 6-8 pm at the Crossing Church.
Catarino Rico Perez Aka Cat, Honey, and CR, born to Tereso Juan and Senorina Rico on April 30, 1954, at Bartlett, Texas. He was the 9th Child of 15 children. He attended Meadow School and married Rachel Najera in 1979 had 2 daughters Jennifer and Melissa.
He and his family moved to Snyder, Texas in 1983, where he lived for 21 years. He managed IGA grocery store till he moved back to Meadow in 2003. He went to work as a manager for Lowes and soon moved over to Dollar General until he suffered a stroke. He moved into Brownfield Rehab and Care, and due to medical conditions and a leg amputation he was bound to a wheelchair.
Cat had an amazing green thumb and he took pride in his yard work. He turned many yards into beautiful landscapes with flowers and beautiful plants.
Cat was known for being a leader, for being funny, and extremely loud. But as loud as his voice was, so was his love for others. He never met a stranger and he touched many hearts along the way. Cat will be missed.
He is survived by Rachel Perez, Jennifer Perez and granddaughter Reagan of Meadow, TX, and daughter Melissa Reynero and husband Henry and granddaughter Kennedy of Lubbock, Texas.
Also by his siblings, Alfred and wife Lidia Perez of Ropesville, Texas, Amos and wife Tina of Lubbock, Janie and husband Alex Garcia, Pete Perez, Tj and Ninfa Perez, Joe and Ruth Perez all of Meadow, Arthur and Jane Perez and Angie and husband Pete Garza both from Brownfield and many many nieces and nephews and great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.
Proceeded in death by parents Tereso and Senorina Perez, brothers Zeke, Adam, Steve, Albert, Dario, and Siscilio, and nephew Andres Perez.
