Catharine “Kay” (May) Lapointe of Worcester passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann (Lapointe) Pan and her husband, Michael; sons, Michael Lapointe and wife, Bonnie; Richard Lapointe and wife, Nancy; grandsons, Adam Pan, Trevor Pan, Zackary Lapointe, and Sam Lapointe, and great-grandchildren, Jonah and Kinsley Pan.
She is also survived by siblings Betty Coleman, Mary Congdon, Marty May, Sheila Courchaine, Barbara Boria, Regina Bleau, Maggie May, and Maureen May Manners, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kay was born in Worcester, daughter of the late John F. and Anna Grace (Kelliher) May, and was predeceased by siblings Sister Virginia May OSF, Pat Norton, Grace May, Marion Falcone, and John, Lonny, Billy, Frankie, Howie, Bobby, and Kevin May.
A graduate of Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, Kay was a nurse for many years, initially serving Worcester hospitals and later providing private home healthcare. Following her retirement from nursing, she worked for the US Postal Service. Kay was an avid gardener and golf enthusiast. She enjoyed swimming, time at the beach, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She also never passed up any opportunity for a trip to “The Woods”.
The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff at Goddard House/Homestead Hall for the care and thoughtfulness they provided over the past nine years, and to the team at JHC Hospice for their compassion and support during Kay’s final days.
Family and friends will remember and celebrate Kay’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd from 9 to 11 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, Millbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Massachusetts, 100 N. Parkway, Suite 105, Worcester, MA 01605.
