Catherine Boleman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Funeral Homes - Lexington on Aug. 29, 2025.
Catherine "Cathy" Hunsucker Boleman, 94, went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2025. Cathy was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill, her parents Wade Alexander Hunsucker and Pearl Setzer Hunsucker, her brothers Everett, Fred, John, Bill, and Jim Hunsucker, as well as her sister Ann Hunsucker Felts. She is survived by her son Dr. Todd Boleman (Éttienne Montalvo) and daughters Mary Catherine Lankford (Steven) and Leslie Jeffcoat (Joey). She is also survived by her dear grandchildren Sydney Boleman, Sarah Boleman, Samuel Boleman, Harrison Lankford, Eliza Lankford and her soon-to-be husband Simon Comanda, Cameron Jeffcoat, and Miranda Jeffcoat.

Cathy was born in Catawba County, North Carolina. As a young woman, she attended business school at Kings College and attained a secretarial degree. She then spent twelve years working in Charlotte, NC where she enjoyed spending time with her roommates and exploring the city. She met Bill, and after a flurry of letters and many rounds of bowling, they married in 1962 and eventually had their three children. Cathy, in addition to being devoted to her family, loved serving in her church, camping with the family in their pop-up camper, gardening, and bird-watching. She also loved to explore new hobbies, and her family remembers her successful forays into ceramics, macrame, cake decorating, and floral arranging. Perhaps her favorite activity later in life was sitting on the front porch with Bill waving at neighbors and enjoying the birds and flowers.

Her children and grandchildren are so thankful for her life and testimony. Cathy lived her life as a servant of Jesus Christ, acting as the hands and feet of Jesus. She was always taking friends to appointments or to church, baking her special banana bread for others, and ministering with the women of the church to the patients at the former SC State Hospital.

Even after her dear husband died and dementia began to take its toll, she continued to be a light to others. She began living at Westminster Memory Care in Lexington where she often chose to sit with someone who was alone rather than sitting with her more verbal friends. She always told the staff "Thanks, hon" when they attended to her. She offered encouragement even as she was winning most rounds of Bingo. She was the epitome of sweetness and grace.

Cathy was and will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Cayce Presbyterian Church, the staff at Westminster Memory Care, and her special friends Peggy Jones and Gigi Rodgers for all of their support.

Memorials may be made to Cayce Presbyterian Church: 1600 Summerland Drive Cayce, SC 29033.
