Catherine "Cathy" McManus, of Norwich, CT, passed away on May 25, 2024 at Plainfield Emergency Care Center.
Cathy was born to the late Dolores (Tatro) and Francis "Bob" Carr on March 31, 1958 in Norwich, CT. Cathy was married to James "Jim" McManus on June 19, 1981. She is survived by her husband Jim, sisters Betty LeClair and Cheryl Laroux, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Cathy attended Wequonnoc Elementary School in Norwich CT and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1976. She attended Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in education in 1980. During her career, she was a teacher at Moriarty Elementary School, a job that she loved to do. Later, she worked at varied careers within the State of Connecticut culminating as a State of Connecticut social worker.
Cathy's best quality was being kind and generous to her family and many friends and she will be deeply missed by all. Cathy touched many people's lives by participating in choral programs while a student at NFA and she enjoyed helping out with NFA's musical theatre programs at the high school after graduation. Cathy enjoyed gardening and creating floral arrangements, designing beautiful paper crafts, and she was a wonderful and adventurous cook. Her true passion, however, was loving dogs, particularly the Coton de Tulear breed. Cathy's "heart-dog" Souci was her faithful companion for many years and sadly predeceased Cathy.
Arrangements are with Godere-Guillot Funeral Home, 21 N 2nd Ave, Taftville, CT, with no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11 Baltic Rd, Norwich, CT at 10am on June 3, 2024.
