Catherine "Cat" Fontenberry, age 75, peacefully transitioned to eternal life on Saturday, March 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Frisco, Texas. Catherine was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her warm heart, unwavering faith, and quick wit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will forever be cherished.
Catherine was born in McComb, Mississippi, and grew up in Metairie, Louisiana, where she received her formal education. Even from a young age, she displayed a caring spirit and a strong sense of community-qualities that would define her life and leave a lasting impact on those around her.
Later in life, Catherine relocated to North Texas, where she built a fulfilling career as a Child Development Associate, specializing in the care of infants. She had a deep passion for nurturing and supporting the youngest of children, and her gentle spirit brought comfort and joy to countless families. Her dedication to early childhood development was not just a profession-it was a calling. She continued this work faithfully until her retirement.
Faith was a cornerstone of Catherine's life. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized as a child. Catherine was a devoted member of Ninevah Baptist Church in Louisiana and remained active in church life after relocating to Texas, continuing her spiritual journey until illness made regular attendance difficult.
Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Alton Fontenberry and the cherished daughter of the late Urice and Josephine Miles. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Yinna Fontenberry, and a proud grandmother to Imani Chopin, both of whom were the light of her life. She was a loving sister to Willie L. Miles, Mary L. Miles, Josephine Phillips, and Cynthia Vaughn.
Catherine is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Patricia Fontenberry and Judy Harris, along with a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Willistine Miles, Marshall Miles, and Harold Miles.
Her legacy of love, strength, and service lives on in all who were blessed to know her.
